Our practice schedule is:
Monday evening 6 - 8 p.m.
Tuesday - Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Younger kids the first hour; older kids the second hour. We typically think of the older kids as 11 and up. There is definitely flexibility here; however, we do not want a new diver diving with the older kids. Just not fair to either diver.
Below is the 7-Hills League Diving Dive Requirements for Dual Meets
Age Group Dive Requirements
8 and Under One Required Dive, One Optional Dive (Divers can represent ONE category within two dives)
10 and Under One Required Dive, Two Optional Dives (Divers must represent TWO categories within three dives)
12 and Under Two Required Dives, Two Optional Dives (Divers must represent TWO categories within four dives)
14 and Under Two Required Dives, Two Optional Dives (Divers must represent TWO categories within four dives)
18 and Under Three Required Dives, Two Optional Dives (Divers must represent THREE categories within five dives)
For those new to diving, there a 5 categories we ultimately want to teach the kids: Front dive, back dive, inward dive, reverse dive and half twist dive. All of these dives are considered “required” dives and anything “fancier” is considered an optional dive. Older kids have to really be working on harder dives. Our Championship meet at the end of the year, has the divers do one additional dive. For example, an 8 & U would be asked to do 3 dives. One required and two optionals. For each dual meet, only two kids per age group can dive “for points” the rest dive as exhibition. In the Championship meet all kids can dive if they can do the required number of dives and have been in two dual meets.
For this summer only, Debbie is heading to Puerto Rico on May 27th as a chaperone for the Turpin and Anderson High School Spanish Class. Kailey will be covering the first 4 days of practice May 28, 29, 30, 31. Both of us will be available the following weeks.
Our first meet with Normandy will not be at Normandy due to their hotel like board. We will have a “inner squad” meet Friday morning, June 7 during dive practice. This will count as a meet!
