Dive - Week of June 2nd

From Debbie

Great meeting everyone over the last two days. Some important dive information moving forward: On Monday's we practice in the evenings 6 to 8 p.m. 8 & Unders get the first half hour 6 to 6:30 p.m. 9 + 10 get 6:30 to 7 p.m. and the older kids 11 and over get the last hour 7 to 8 p.m. There is certainly flexibility but talk with Debbie personally if you have an issue.

Tuesday thru Friday we practice 11 am to 1 p.m. Again, 8 & Unders get the first half hour 11 to 11:30 a.m. 9 & 10 11:30 a.m. to noon and the older kids 11 and over get the full hour from noon to 1 p.m.

Dive meets start at 4 p.m. The home team warms up from 3 to 3:30 p.m. and the away team gets 3:30 to 4 p.m. This week we are the home team against a very small Terrace Park Team. There are rules to follow but in order to be in a dive meet the youngest group 8 & Under must know how to do 2 dives. 9 & 10's must know 3 dives, 11 & 12 and 13 & 14 must know 4 dives and 15 & 18 must know 5 dives.

There are requirements about some of these dives being required dives and some being optional dives. I will take care of the particulars. Debbie can spot an 8 & under for example on a back dive but that diver would be listed as "exhibition" meaning NOT for points. All divers must be in two meets in the season to be allowed in our Champ meet. At the champ meet all age groups have to do one extra dive.

Not all kids are ready for a meet yet. Please be patient with your diver everyone progresses at a different pace and safety is always the most important factor in deciding when someone is ready to learn a "harder" dive.
