First Meet of the Season!
Parents,
Our first meet is tomorrow vs Terrace Park.
Dive meets start at 4 p.m. The home team warms up from 3 to 3:30 p.m. and the away team gets 3:30 to 4 p.m. This week we are the home team against a very small Terrace Park Team. Please make sure to be there before 3pm for warmups.
Swim meet will start at 6:30pm. We will warm up at 5:30pm but arrive no later than 5:15pm. This is so you can write Events on your arm, name on the back, apply sunscreen, etc. Forest Hills will have the side of the pool with the concessions to the playset. While we have chairs, bring your own in case we run out of them. Bring extra towels, sweatshirt (even in the 80s the kids get cold), water, snacks. More information can be found here on what too bring:
https://foresthills.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-101
The coaches ask that the kids take it easy between practice and the swim meets (easy said then done, but we have to ask :)
For the 10 and unders there will be 4 tents marked by age group and gender by the fence. Please make sure during the meet your child stays in that area. The meets go fast once we get going (and the younger kids go from relays to Freestyle heats quickly). Requirement - mark on their shoulder their full name and the events (more on this is below). There will be sharpies at the volunteer table and usually by the poster where we have all of the athletes heats listed. This will be located between the playset and the concessions on the fence.
For new parents, this will be chaotic, but it is a controlled chaos :). We may have a lot of heats for an event, so make sure you know which heat and lane your child are in. There are no parents behind the blocks except times and swimmers. On the other side, you are allowed to watch, but stay in the grass our timers and judges can do their jobs. Odd events are girls, even events are boys. If your son or daughter is swimming a relay, there will be a letter and number. The number is what is important as it will represent which order they are swimming in the relay. For the younger kids, odd numbers in relay will be at the blocks and the even number will be by the baby pool.
Volunteers
Check in for volunteers will be at the picnic tables. First half timers will get watches. Second half timers report to the blocks after the backstroke has completed. Age group parents, I will have specific clipboards for age group parents. For first half, you will get these for second half, please check in at the age group tent to switch. Place judges will get a stack of sheets for places.. Judges we will have DQ slips ready and heat sheets at the admin table. Please make sure to check in so we know you are here.
We still need the volunteers:
- 8 and under Boys (2nd half - we need 1 more)
- 9-10 Boys (1st half - we need at least 1, preferably 2, 2nd half - we should have 1 more)
- 9-10 Girls (2nd half - we need 1 more)
- Place Judge (2nd half - we need 1 more)
- Shark Bites - 2nd half worker
If we don't have age group parents, we will have a very long meet - it is that simple.. My ask is that we have some folks volunteer for the roles. Place judge is probably one of the easiest roles you can do during the meet.
T-Shirts and Caps
The t-shirts have been delayed. We might get them, we might not before tomorrow's meet. If we do, we will have someone work to hand these out.. Forest Hills caps must be worn or the cap must be turned inside out (no other club can be used). If you have not gotten a latex cap, please find me at the volunteer table. Silicone caps are available for $10.
Shark Bite Donations
Please be sure to drop those off under the white tent by the concession stand. This is where the donations go.
Concessions
Cash only! Please be prepared!
Parking
If the main lot fills up, there is parking on the hill above the pool. There is also parking in the neighborhood as well.
Let's be gracious hosts and make sure that the Terrace Park families feel welcomed.
More specifics are attached below for the meet:
Thanks,
