Shark Swimmers,

Attached is the swim packet for Swim Champs at Terrace Park.  A copy of the same pack can be found here on our Swimtopia site.   There is a lot to unpack here so I'm going to be brief and then as we get closer go into more details.  

Dates - Prelims - will be July 8th.  

AM Session  (meet starts at 9am)

Age Groups 11 and up - club opens at 715am.  Warm up times for FH will be 8:20-8:40a in lanes 4-6.   

PM Session (meet starts at 1pm)

Age groups 10 and under - will warm up from 12:20-12:40pm.  

For those that are new this year, everyone qualifies for prelims on 7/8 as long as your child has swam in two swim/dual meets.  That's it.  Prelims everyone swims.  Top 12 times swim on Wednesday night.  So if your swimmer isn't in the top 12 in the events they are swimming this will be their last meet they swim at.  We have some very good swimmers in the league, so if they don't qualify, do not worry.   If your child qualifies for champs on Wednesday the expectation is that they will be swimming (minus any illness) the championship..   We will only be swimming individual events on Tuesday, no relays.   If your child misses an event, they will not be allowed to swim in a different heat.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!! (why I used caps) - we will need age group parents for the PM session for the younger kids.  There will be a plethora of young kids.   

Admission - unlike our meets, the league charges for admission.  This is to pay for the medals, ribbons, and officials.  Under 6 - no charge, 6-15 years old and 60 and up - $2/day, 16-59 - $5/day.  If you are lucky like I am and have children in both, you pay only once on Tuesday.  Officials, coaches, and swimmers are admitted at no charge. Assume CASH ONLY!!

Handicap Parking Request - For anyone needing a handicap parking at champs, you will need to fill out this form.   This form must be filled out prior to champs https://forms.gle/j1mP1tiCA4UW4rdw8  These passes will be picked up ahead of time and distributed before champs.

Parking - please read the details on the parking provided in the packet.  If you have been to Terrace it has two one lane areas (fun game of chicken, not) and it's not the easiest place to get in/out of.  Expect that it will be a $hit $how and give yourself plenty of time.  We have a later practice/warm up, so parking will most likely be worse.  Drop your swimmer off and then give yourself time to get back to Terrace.  The overflows are a good walk from the club and they will be shuttling folks.  

Team Areas - will be determined on Monday and will send out a note on where we are. No outside chairs on the deck. There will be spectator areas and Terrace actually has a good hill to view the races from.   Bring chairs to sit on.   The club will have tents for everyone and will communicate out how much space will be available for additional tents once we know where we are.  

Volunteers -  the sign up is out there for Tuesday.   For the championship meet on Wednesday,  I will ask a few people to help if they can since we won't know who is swimming until Tuesday.    We have to provide a clerk of course and 2 timers for prelims (each session) and then for championship, we will need the same along with a ribbons worker. 

There will be more coming out around this.   But wanted to get this out because the handicap forms will be due soon.   

And a sadder note, there are no swim champ shirts this year.....booo!!!
