Rules

All swimmers for Forest Hills should check in at the Clerk of Course.  While it is not required for AM prelims, it is for finals, so let's just go with check in and be ready to swim.  You need to be wearing a FH Swim cap or no cap.  If you have lost yours, we will have more at the tent.  For older kids, 13 and above, tech suits can be worn.   For kids under 12, please wear their FH suit or normal suit they have been competing in.

Some additional rules that were changed this year -

The Seven Hills Swim & Dive League follows USA Swimming rules unless otherwise noted in the league rules. Our league allows for Ohio High School backstroke turns, and I will communicate this with our Champs officials. USA Swimming has recently announced new rule changes that affect our league, which I will also discuss with the officials:

  • Submerged Finishes - Swimmers are now permitted to be completely submerged while finishing the butterfly and freestyle, bringing rules for these strokes in line with the backstroke finish.
  • Therapeutic Tape - Elastic and kinesiology tape are now permissible to wear during races if for therapeutic or injury recovery purposes. No more than two fingers or toes can be taped together. The Meet Referee still has the final say on whether an athlete's taping provides an illegal competitive advantage.

Parking

Unless you have a designated pass, you will need to leverage the turn around at the club to drop off your swimmers and park either in the neighborhood or at Hillside Church (at the top of 8 Mile).   We have limited parking in our lot and it will be close to full with staff, vendors, officials and coaches.

For those parking in Summit, remember only one side of the street is designated parking and the other is no parking.

Here is the parking and drop off layout for Champs

Champs Swimmer Drop-Off and Additional Parking

There will be a sheriff directing traffic into and out of the club for both days.

Prelims and Champs Qualifications

Every swimmer will swim individual events on Tuesday.  There are no relays on Tuesday.  To qualify for the championship on Wednesday, you will need to be in the top 12 to swim finals.  There will be two alternates in addition to the top 12 and we will post the results on the results board in the club.  The alternates are on stand-by for champs in case one of the top swimmers isn't able to make it.  A note about qualifications and champs - the top 6 swimmers swim the A final and swimmers 7-12 will swim the B final.  If a B finalist swims faster than the all of the A finals, the highest place they can get is 7th.   If a swimmer misses their event, there is do over, and their day this done.  So we need to make sure all swimmers get to their events on time.

The meet is being run through another program outside of Swimtopia, so results will be posted old school on paper.  If you have access to Meet Mobile, it will be posted there. .

Relays will only be swam on Wednesday and we will send those out on Tuesday night.  As soon as I have results, I'll post them for the prelims.

This year is a 3 club race with Normandy, Indian Hill and us as the top 3 clubs and it has been close the last three years.  So let's go out and swim strong on Tuesday!

Volunteers

We will still need some additional volunteers for the following sessions:

AM Prelims -

  • Timers (2 - Have to have)
  • Concession (1)

PM Prelims -

  • Grillers - need some help with grilling in the afternoon
  • Timer (1 - have to have)
  • Runner (1 - have to have)
  • Concessions (2)

Team Area

Our team area will be located on the hill right outside the gate.  There will be no entry from the team areas from the parking lot next to the hill.  We want everyone to go through the main gate.  We will have 4 tents set up in our team area. Primarily for the 8 and U and 9-10 groups for the PM sessions.  However, feel free to use in the AM sessions and at champs.  If you want to bring a tent for the team area, feel free to do so.  You can bring that and drop it off on Monday from (5-7pm) since we will be roping off the hill later Monday night.

Champs Layout

There will be bleachers where we have spectator seating both on the side by the concession stand and between the deck and baby pool.

Pirate Theme

The theme of champs is Pirate's Plunge.  Dress like a pirate.  There will be tattoos for the swimmers as well.

Coaches Gift

If you want to contribute to the coaches gift for all coaches, please Venmo Lindsey Weider (@Lindsey-Weider-1)
